If most of your daily tasks center around Microsoft Outlook, you may find it convenient to manage some of the SharePoint tasks right within your Outlook environment, including participating in a Discussion Board.

In addition to Tasks, Contacts, Calendars, and Libraries, you can synchronize Discussion Boards with Outlook. This gives you the ability to manage all your discussions without having to leave your inbox.

Once the connection is established, any new discussion threads from SharePoint will show up in Outlook, and vice versa. Common activities such as view, add, edit, and delete will fall in sync as well.
